Communications play a vital role in every association’s existence; whether to connect with members, keep them informed of important issues, or raise awareness of programs and initiatives. Given the central role of communications to an organization’s success in serving its members and external audiences, the creativity, execution and success of outstanding communications should be applauded and recognized.

2010 Gold Circle Award Competition Details At-a-Glance

  • Entry Period: January 11 – March 31, 2010 (Entries and required materials must be received by 5:00 p.m., March 31, 2010)
  • Entry Fee: ASAE & The Center Members $100 per entry; non-members $200 per entry
  • Requirements: Communications submitted to the 2010 GCA Competition must have been created and/or distributed between January 1 – December 31, 2009.
  • Categories: Annual Report, Blog, Feature Article, General Association Web Site, Innovative Communications, Issue-Specific Web Site, Magazine, Media Relations Campaign, Newsletter, Peer Reviewed Journal and Podcast
  • Entry Forms: An online entry form must be completed for each submission (even if you are submitting multiple entries in the same category). No printed applications will be accepted. Entry forms that are incomplete or include inaccurate information will be automatically disqualified from the competition. Before filling out the form, please make sure to have the following information:
    • Your organization's overall 2009 operating budget for your entire association (not just the budget for the communications project you are entering)
    • In 750 words or less, be able to state the main objectives of your entry as it relates to your association’s mission AND the results your association achieved from the communication you are submitting.
    • Please have information on how you will pay the entry fee (i.e. credit card number or check number) before you fill out the application. Also, if you DO NOT have a log-in to www.asaecenter.org and wish to pay your entry fee electronically, please create a free log in by clicking here. (Otherwise, you may have problems submitting payment electronically.)
  • Eligibility: (1) Open to all U.S. based non-profit organizations or associations with a 501(c) tax designation; (2) Entries must have been produced within the 2009 calendar year; (3) The majority of the content should be in English; (4) Each submission must fit into one of the defined 2010 Gold Circle Award categories. Entries submitted from ineligible organizations, that do not fit into a defined category, that are entered into the incorrect category or that include inaccurate information will be automatically disqualified.
  • Samples: Communications must be submitted in the original format presented to the pieces target audience. For categories that require printed materials, six sets of the required printed materials must be provided by the submitting organization.
  • Winners: A press release announcing the winners will go out in July, with award trophies presented at a special ceremony on Sunday, August 22 during ASAE & The Center’s 2010 Annual Meeting & Exposition in Los Angeles, CA.
  • Council’s Choice Award: One of the 2010 Gold Circle Award winners will be named the “Council’s Choice Award” winner at the 2010 Gold Circle Award ceremony.
