Strong Attendance Numbers from ASAE’s 2010 Annual Meeting Positive Sign for the Community

More than 5,500 association professionals and industry partners walked the red carpet in Los Angeles at ASAE’s 2010 Annual Meeting & Exposition, August 21-24, in person and for the first time online. Attendees chose from more than 125 education sessions led by some of the most renowned association and business leaders, numerous networking events and eight hours of the expo hall. This year’s attendance has seen an increase in the number of association professionals by nearly 700, and exhibitors by nearly 100.

TABS Takes Home ‘Council’s Choice’ in 2010 Gold Circle Award Competition

The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) was selected as the 2010 Council’s Choice winner, the “best-of-the-best” from among all 2010 Gold Circle Award competition winners, by the ASAE Communication Section Council.

ASAE Board Discusses The Power of A, Greater Washington Region and Digital Strategy, Approves Program of Work for FY11

A discussion on ASAE’s program of work topped the agenda at the Board meeting Friday preceding ASAE’s 2010 Annual Meeting and Exposition, August 21-24, in Los Angeles. During the day-long meeting at the JW Marriott in downtown LA, the Board received a progress report on the organization’s initiatives in three segments: an overview of ASAE’s ongoing initiatives, a detailed summary of three ongoing programs with new growth opportunities—The Power of A, Greater Washington region and Digital Strategy—and a report on progress on an approach to serve the specific needs of four business segments, originally presented at the March Board meeting. The Board approved a program of work and related budget for Fiscal Year 2010 (FY11).

New ASAE Foundation Ready to Launch to Advance Association and Nonprofit Leadership; Susan Robertson, CAE, named President of ASAE Foundation

The new ASAE Foundation is quickly taking shape and will be ready to launch its work at ASAE’s 2010 Annual Meeting & Exposition in Los Angeles, August 21-24. At a joint meeting March 2010, the ASAE and The Center for Association Leadership Board approved the creation of the Foundation, along with a name change for the organization and expanded use of The Power of A (Associations) campaign. The organization’s name became ASAE, with a tag line “The Center for Association Leadership.” The Board’s decision to create a distinct 501(c)(3) foundation, separate from the ASAE 501(c)(6) organization but clearly linked, provides a substantive fundraising platform and message for the community.

Notable Industry Leadership Honored with ASAE’s Women Who Advance Excellence in Associations Awards

The Greater Washington Network will present Christine W. McEntee, MHA, Executive Director, American Geophysical Union; Jill Martineau Cornish, IOM, Executive Editor, Association TRENDS; and Debra S. Ben Avram, CAE, Chief Executive Officer, American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, with the 2010 Women Who Advance Excellence in Associations Awards.
